DigiLite is a system designed by radio amateurs to provide a lower cost method of transmitting live digital TV pictures (DATV). It is a derivative of the “Poor Man's DATV System” which many amateurs have contributed to over several years. What do you need to build the DigiLite? A PC Running Windows XP or 7. DigiLite has been designed to use the Hauppauge PVRx50 PCI video capture cards. Other cards are being evaluated. Due to the high data rate the more powerful the PC the better. If a separate PC is available, this is preferable. A 1.8GHz single core or better with USB2 would be suitable. Get yourself a WINTV PVR card and set it up to record from the video input of the PVR card. There is a serialiser/modulator board to make and pll local oscillator to buy. Of course you can always buy an SR Systems encoder and modulator board. They work very well and dont require a PC or LO but unfortunately they are 4 or 5 times the price of the DigiLite. £14.99 inc P&P
PCB’s are available along with pre programmed chips from the batc shop.

This small colour bar generator will be published in CQ-TV 234. It was designed by Grant ZL1WTT and produces a 1 volt composite PAL output. It requires a power supply of between 8 to 14 volts and has on board voltage regulation.
The colour bars have various preset arrangements selected by a small on board encoder switch and vary from full field colour bars to a third field wipe of any of the colours.
The actual generation of the colour bars is in a pre programmed PIC16F84A and is encoded into composite PAL signal with an on board AD724 encoder, making this into a very attractive self contain unit that can be constructed in around 2 hours
The batc shop is supplying a bare bones kit of the difficult to source parts including the surface mount PAL coder chip AD724, which with care can be mounted using a soldering iron fitted with a small bit.
The bare bones kit includes:- PCB, Pre programmed PIC, 20MHz Xtal, 17.732 Xtal, PAL encode (AD724) £29 inc P&P
