Free email for all members

With immediate effect the club is offering all members the opportunity to apply for their own personalised BATC email address. The email address will be of the format callsign@mem.batc.org.uk or firstname.lastname@mem.batc.org.uk

We are offering two options for receiving emails:

1) Forwarding - we will forward all emails received at your club address to another email address of your choice.

2) POP3 - we will receive all emails for you and store them on the clubs server for you to download.

We are also offering an SMTP service for sending emails "From" your club address, although this is to be authenticated so as to minimise the risk of spammers abusing our service.

For members opting for the POP3 service, we will also be offering a basic "Webmail" service, so members can access their emails when away from their PC.

To request yours, please email editor@batc.org.uk or CLICK HERE and complete the form. The email service is offered as a "value add" to your existing membership benefits and use is subject to the following agreement:

The Parties

The British Amateur Television Club ("the BATC") and ("the Member").

Terms and Conditions

Each individual Member is eligible to request one email account for the purposes of sending and receiving emails.

For the avoidance of doubt, an affiliated group shall be treated as an individual Member.

The Committee will review each request on an individual basis and approve or deny the request as they see fit.

Use of the Service is for personal use only, commercial use of any kind is prohibited.

The forwarding option is limited to forwarding to a single email address.

The POP3 service is limited to storing a maximum of 100MB of data, if the mailbox size grows to 100MB further incomming emails will be rejected.

Both the sending and receiving of emails is limited to a maximum individual email size of 20MB.

All data stored or transmitted must be legal under all applicable UK laws. The Member is solely responsible for determining the legality of their data, which is stored or transmitted within and outside the UK.

The Member is responsible for the actions of any third-party to whom they allow access to the Service.

Should the Member become the target of a network attack, the Committee reserves the right to take any necessary actions (including, but not limited to, temporary suspension of the Members account) required to return the Server or network operation back to normal.

The Committee will use our best efforts to maintain, but do not guarantee, the privacy of email, network traffic, or the Members data stored on the Server.

Mail abuse (including, but not limited to, mass mailing (SPAM), unsolicited mail (UCE) and email forgery) and usenet abuse (including, but not limited to, mass crossposting, and posting binary encoded articles to groups not named specifically for that purpose), whether direct or indirect, is prohibited.

Use of the Services to provide copied software (warez) or lists for mass mailing of unsolicited email is prohibited.

Use of the Services to commit network abuse (including, but not limited to, denial of service attacks such as email bombs) or otherwise compromise the security of hosts or networks is prohibited.

The Member will indemnify and hold harmless the BATC against any loss, damage, cost and expense which may be incurred or become liable for by reason of claims or actions for libel, violation of privacy rights, plagiarism, copyright infringement, and claims arising in connection with data transmitted pursuant to the terms and provisions of this agreement and any claims or suits resulting from the Members use of the Service including, without limitation, the expense and cost of defending any and all such claims and actions.

The Committee may terminate Services to the Member at any time, without notice, for violation of this agreement. The BATC will not be liable for any damages or harm to the Member resulting from such termination.

The Member may terminate their account at any time by giving notice in writing to the Committee.

The Service is provided to the Member on a "best efforts" basis, there is no expectation set as to the level of service and the Member must satisfy themselves that the Service is suitable for their needs.

The Committee may terminate the Service at any time and generally without notice, if they decide it is no longer of benefit to the BATC.

The Committee may temporarily suspend for the purpose of repair, maintenance or improvement, part or all of the Services, generally without notice. The Committee undertake to use reasonable endeavours to inform Members of future Service changes and/or downtime and to restore Services as soon as practical after any such suspension.

The Committee may vary the technical specification of the Service for operational reasons at any time and generally without notice.

Use of the Services indicates acceptance of the Agreement by the Member.
