New style for the site
January 01, 2008:
First release: v1.0.
The BATC have setup an Amateur Television discussion website containing forums for all aspects of ATV.
Our aim is to provide a centralised facility, where anyone interested any aspect of ATV can get together and discuss online their favourite pastimes. Keeping it all in one place enables us to all see "What the other chap is doing" and, it is hoped, will facilitate the exchange of ideas, tips and circuit designs as well as encourage us all to get to know one another better.
There are currently several forums available: including separate forums for each of the UK's ATV repeaters, For Sale/Wanted, D-ATV, to name but a few. If anyone would like to see a forum created, please post a message in the "Feedback" forum - we are open to new ideas and constructive criticism, so don't hold back!
Anyone visiting the site is able to view the messages, but if you want to contribute you must register first. To do this click on the "Register" link near the top right (in between "FAQ" and "Login"). Once you have agreed to the terms. you need to choose a suitable username (if you are a licensed amateur, your callsign is a good idea). Enter your email address and pick a good password. Finally, you need to type in the confirmation code towards the bottom - this is present to stop "bots" from registering then spamming the forums with adverts!
Once you've registered you can post in the forums and take part in the discussions.
There are few rules, but please stick to them, mostly it's just common sense:
No rude comments, "flames", etc - please be polite. If you want to have an argument with someone, take it offline.
Although we are the "British" Amateur Television Club and we set the forums up with our members in mind, you do not have to be a BATC member, nor reside in the UK to make use of the service. We actively encourage ATV enthusiasts from all over the World to take part and we would be happy to setup separate forums for your club or group wherever you happen to be.
If you find these forums useful and want to support us, then please do consider becoming a member of the BATC. With our new Cyber membership costing only 4GBP per year, can you afford not to!
